Hi, I'm Sarah. And honestly? Urban Pet Shop started out of pure frustration. 😅

I've had dogs and cats my whole life. They've been there through everything — the good years, the hard years, the in-between years. Anyone who has pets knows exactly what I mean when I say they're not just animals. They're family. They're the ones waiting at the door when you get home. The ones who curl up beside you when you're having a bad day. The ones who somehow always know.

So when it came to finding products for them — proper products, things that actually worked, things that were good quality and didn't fall apart after two weeks — I assumed it would be easy.

It wasn't.

I spent years driving between pet shops, scrolling through endless websites, ordering things that looked great in photos and arrived looking nothing like the picture. Half the time the quality was terrible. The other half, the range was so limited I couldn't find what I actually needed.

I remember standing in a pet shop one afternoon, looking for a decent bed for my older dog who was struggling with her joints, and a good scratch post for my cat who had decided my sofa was her personal property — and walking out with neither. Again.

That was the moment I thought — there has to be a better way.

So I created it. 🐾

Urban Pet Shop started in my spare room with a laptop, a very unhelpful cat sitting on the keyboard and two dogs demanding attention every five minutes. I researched every product personally. I tested things on my own pets. If they didn't love it, it didn't make the cut. Simple as that.

Because I'm not a big corporation trying to shift stock. I'm a pet mum in my 50s who knows exactly what it feels like to want the absolute best for your animals and not be able to find it in one place.

Everything in this shop has been chosen with love. For pets who deserve the best. And for owners who feel exactly the way I did standing in that pet shop all those years ago — knowing their pets deserve better and just needing somewhere to find it.
